About Card or Chicken

Illustrator 'Karin van der Meij-Pracht' signs her designs under the name 'Kaartje of Kip' (Little Card or Chicken).

Why that crazy name?
Because no one calls Karin "Karin" at all. Her husband and friends call her "Kip" (Chicken)," but her family affectionately calls her "Kaartje" (Little Card). So she decided to sign her work with her two nicknames!

-SINCE 15-10-2011 -
Karin was born on October 15, 1981, and grew up in the polder of the Green Heart region of the Netherlands. In elementary school, Karin dreamed of a future as a potter, farmer, or fashiondesigner. Her choice became artschool, and she was accepted in 2000. After studying fashiondesign at the Arnhem academy, she successfully graduated as an illustrator from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 2005. After working as a magazine illustrator and fashionaccessories designer, among other things, she decided to open an online shop on her 30th birthday.

Bed & Bentwoud

Staying at Kip's...?

Kip lives with her husband (childhood sweetheart and rock Jeroen) and their two children, Valentijn and Teuntje, in a cute white house on the corner of Benthuizen. (In the green but 20 min from The Hague, Rotterdam & Leiden) You'll often find her in her (vegetable) garden with her goats, chickens, and cat Mien. Besides her studio, she also runs a Bed & Breakfast!

A cute cottage overlooking the Bentwoud. A very welcome to our "Bed & Bentwoud" www.bedenbentwoud.nl
